Givens Back FoundationThe Givensback Foundation has announced tryouts for its 13u and 15u teams for the summer of 2022.
There are two tryout dates, which are listed below.
April 20-21 (4/20 at Spring Hill, 1000 E Eskimo Ave, Tampa, FL 33604; 4/21 at North Tampa, 6800 N Rome Ave, Tampa, FL 33604)
May 4-5 (5/4 at Spring Hill, 1000 E Eskimo Ave, Tampa, FL 33604; 5/5 at North Tampa, 6800 N Rome Ave, Tampa, FL 33604)
La Cava Jacobson & Goodis was proud to sponsor The Givens Back Foundation’s Annual Blitzball Tournament on January 3, 2021 to benefit Inner City Baseball, a Tampa baseball organization run by Mychal Givens, a Tampa native and current pitcher for the MLB Colorado Rockies. Inner City Baseball provides access to sports and the teaching of charitable giving and life lessons for all children, including those who would not otherwise have access to organized sports. Benjamin Mallin, who is the son of our own Attorney Karen Mallin, is a player on the 12 year old Inner City Baseball team. In his own words, Benjamin explains: “The Inner City Baseball teams are made up of players like me who are very fortunate and also players who are less fortunate from all over Tampa. All of us come together for baseball practice and tournaments, and we also do charitable things together during the year, like giving away turkeys at Thanksgiving and giving presents to children at Christmas. My mom and dad like me playing Inner City Baseball because I have fun while I learn and give, and I really love it too. I think all kids should be able to play baseball like I do because it’s challenging and fun. It’s expensive to buy uniforms and equipment, and it is expensive to go to tournaments. Helping Inner City Baseball helps a less fortunate kid get to love baseball like I do.”
We’re excited to announce it’s that time of year again! We are celebrating the 3rd year of the Givensback Foundation’s Christmas Event, teaming up with the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation. Would you like to join us in making a difference? We’re raising money to provide Christmas gifts, a dinner, and night full of fun for the less fortunate children of Tampa Bay, any donation will help make an impact for these children. TAMPA, Fla. – What do Major League baseball, law enforcement, and turkey all have in common? A sense of community and giving back. On Saturday, the ‘GivensBack Foundation’ teamed up with the Tampa Police Department to hand out turkeys in communities where it was needed.
“It was another great year. An opportunity to team up with the Tampa Police Department to help out our community by giving turkeys to those in need, with the kids & parents in the Givens Back Foundation,” said Mychal Givens, MLB player and founder of the Given Back Foundation.
Givens added, “With all that’s has been going on COVID-19 & everything else, this was a great opportunity to give back.”
The GivensBack Foundation’s goal is to provide access to sports, unique opportunities through sports, and the teaching of life lessons outside of the classroom, for those in communities most in need
